Diseases included in this pack

Cord1 PRA (crd4-PRA, RPGRIP1) (Autosomal recessive with incomplete penetrance.)

Molecular test for cone-rod dystrophy 1 (Cord1) progressive retinal atrophy, a hereditary retinal degeneration that initially affects the cones and later the rods and leads to progressive blindness. It affects the ocular system (photoreceptors) and forces the animal to adapt to gradual visual loss. The test reports…

Osteogenesis Imperfecta (Brittle Bone Disease) Dachshund (Autosomal recessive)

Inherited connective tissue disease of the Dachshund characterised by severe bone and dental fragility. It is caused by a mutation in SERPINH1, which encodes HSP47, a chaperone essential for type I collagen folding. Spontaneous, intrauterine or perinatal fractures appear, together with dental hypomineralisation (fra…

crd-PRA (Autosomal recessive)

Form of cone-rod dystrophy (crd) of the Dachshund associated with a mutation in the RPGRIP1 gene. It produces photoreceptor degeneration with initial involvement of cones and progression to blindness. The genetic test identifies carriers. The Dachshund has several PRAs, so this variant (cord1/RPGRIP1) must be distin…

Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis 2 (NCL2) - Dachshund (Autosomal recessive (OMIA:001472-9615).)

Juvenile neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis of the Dachshund caused by a deficiency of the lysosomal protease TPP1 (CLN2). It accumulates curvilinear autofluorescent material in neurons and causes progressive neurodegeneration of juvenile onset. It is inherited in an autosomal recessive manner and is one of the natural…

Frequently asked questions

What does this pack include?

It includes 4 hereditary disease tests: Cord1 PRA (crd4-PRA, RPGRIP1), Osteogenesis Imperfecta (Brittle Bone Disease) Dachshund, crd-PRA, Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis 2 (NCL2) - Dachshund. All are analysed in our laboratory.

What do the results mean?

The report shows the genotype and inheritance pattern of each variant. It is a breeding-decision tool: it guides which crosses to avoid, it does not guarantee the absence of disease.

How is the sample taken?

Buccal swab or 0.5–1 ml EDTA blood. The kit ships free to Spain, the EU and the UK.
