Painel genético do American Bully que agrupa cinco condições hereditárias recessivas prevalentes em raças de tipo bull/pit: a atrofia progressiva da retina tipo crd1 (crd1-PRA, degeneração precoce dos fotorrecetores), a cistinúria (cálculos de cistina nas vias urinárias), a hiperuricosúria/hiperuricemia (HUU, risco de urolitos de urato), a lipofuscinose neuronal ceroide (NCL, degeneração neurodegenerativa de início adulto) e a mielopatia degenerativa (DM, variante do exão 2 de SOD1). O American Bully descende do American Staffordshire Terrier e partilha várias variantes por efeito fundador.
Incidência
American Bully (e raças relacionadas de tipo pit/bull). A NCL por ARSG está caracterizada em AmStaff/APBT (alelo a 3,4 % em AmStaff, Donner 2023 n>1M); assume-se partilhada com o American Bully por ancestralidade, sem casos publicados na raça. Para crd1-PRA, HUU e cistinúria no American Bully, os números populacionais não são publicados de forma fiável (dados limitados).
Manejo do criador
- Genotipar os reprodutores para PDE6B, SLC2A9, ARSG, SOD1 exão 2 e a variante da cistinúria antes da cobrição\n- Não cruzar dois portadores para a mesma variante\n- Um portador pode ser cruzado com um livre e a descendência destinada à criação deve ser testada\n- Após um caso confirmado, não repetir o cruzamento parental e comunicar o estado ao comprador\n- Para HUU e cistinúria, recomendar dieta e maneio (baixa purina, baixa metionina) mesmo que o teste seja positivo, e vigilância urinária\n- Recordar que a DM tem penetrância incompleta: não todos os homozigotos SOD1 desenvolvem doença
Notas do especialista
A crd1-PRA deve ser distinguida de outras PRA (prcd-PRA, etc.); o teste crd1 não exclui outras formas. A NCL por ARSG tem apresentação adulta e deve ser diferenciada de outras ataxias degenerativas. A cistinúria e a HUU partilham apresentação clínica (urolitíase) e exigem análise do cálculo. A DM só é atribuível a SOD1 após descartar compressão medular (RM, mielografia).
