Pannello multi-patologia per il Setter irlandese (rosso e bianco) che raggruppa quattro test molecolari: atrofia progressiva della retina rcd1 (rcd1-PRA), atrofia progressiva della retina rcd4 (rcd4-PRA), deficienza di adesione leucocitaria canina (CLAD) e leucodistrofia a cellule globoidi (malattia di Krabbe). Combina condizioni oculari, immunologiche e neurodegenerative.
Incidenza
Setter irlandese e Setter irlandese rosso e bianco. CLAD: frequenze di portatori intorno al 5 % negli USA (Setter irlandese), ~7,6 % in Australia (Kijas 1999) e fino a ~13 % nel Setter irlandese rosso e bianco degli USA (Foureman 2002). rcd1-PRA: forma classica del Setter irlandese (OMIA000882-9615), ridotta dopo l'uso del test molecolare (prevalenza attuale con dati limitati); non risulta una pubblicazione specifica nel Setter irlandese rosso e bianco. Krabbe (GALC) e rcd4-PRA (C2orf71): documentate nel Setter irlandese; non risulta una pubblicazione specifica per il Setter irlandese rosso e bianco (dati limitati).
Gestione dell'allevatore
- Genotipizzare i riproduttori prima dell'accoppiamento; il pannello copre quattro condizioni in un unico campione\n- Per le quattro condizioni recessive: non accoppiare due portatori — rischio del 25% di omozigoti affetti; portatore×indemne è sicuro per la progenie destinata all'allevamento se testata\n- La CLAD e la Krabbe sono letali/devastanti negli omozigoti: priorità assoluta nell'evitare l'accoppiamento portatore×portatore\n- Dopo un caso clinico confermato, non ripetere l'accoppiamento parentale e comunicare lo stato all'acquirente

Verificate il pannello esatto offerto da ciascun laboratorio. Esame oculare annuale (ECVO) complementare. La CLAD si sospetta nei cuccioli con infezioni ricorrenti e leucocitosi; si conferma con citometria (CD18) e test molecolare. La Krabbe si sospetta per segni neurologici progressivi nei giovani; diagnosi mediante attività della GALC nei leucociti e test molecolare. La rcd1-PRA è a esordio precoce e si osserva nel cucciolo/giovane.
