Yorkshire Terrier Pack: Progressive Retinal Atrophy (prcd-PRA), Chondrodysplasia and Chondrodystrophy (CDPA and CDDY, IVDD Risk), Subacute Necrotizing Encephalopathy (SNE), L-2-Hydroxyglutaric Aciduria (L-2-HGA), Primary Lens Luxation (PLL)
153,54 € VAT incl.
Diseases included in this pack
Chondrodysplasia (CDPA) and Chondrodystrophy (CDDY) (IVDD Risk) (CDPA: autosomal dominant semi-dominant (homozygotes with shorter legs). CDDY-IVDD: autosomal dominant with a dose-dependent effect (more copies, higher risk of IVDD).)
Combined test that evaluates two FGF4 retrogene insertions associated with skeletal phenotypes and with the risk of intervertebral disc herniation in the dog. The insertion on chromosome 18 (CDPA) determines the shortened limbs typical of many breeds; the insertion on chromosome 12 (CDDY) is associated with chondrod…
Subacute Necrotizing Encephalopathy (SNE) (Autosomal recessive. Affected homozygotes; asymptomatic carrier heterozygotes.)
Juvenile subacute necrotising encephalopathy of the Yorkshire Terrier, neuropathologically very similar to human Leigh disease and to husky encephalopathy. It produces progressive neurological signs in dogs under one year of age, with bilateral symmetrical lesions in the thalamus, brainstem and other structures. It…
Primary Lens Luxation (PLL) (Autosomal recessive (OMIA:000588-9615; Farias et al. 2010).)
Progressive weakening of the zonules of Zinn that causes displacement of the lens. It is a hereditary, non-inflammatory ocular disease, distinct from luxations secondary to cataract, uveitis, previous glaucoma or trauma. When the lens moves into the anterior chamber it can trigger a painful acute glaucoma and rapid…
Canine Progressive Retinal Atrophy (prcd-PRA) (Autosomal recessive)
Inherited degeneration of the retinal photoreceptors. It begins by affecting the rods (night blindness, difficulty in low light) and progresses toward total vision loss in the medium to long term. It is the most common form of progressive retinal atrophy in dogs and is painless, so it is usually detected late, when…
L-2-Hydroxyglutaric Aciduria (L2HGA) Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Yorkshire Terrier (Autosomal recessive. Homozygotes (or compound homozygotes) for the L2HGDH variant may develop the disease; heterozygotes are clinically healthy carriers.)
Congenital error of metabolism with autosomal recessive inheritance caused by a deficiency of L-2-hydroxyglutarate dehydrogenase (L2HGDH). L-2-hydroxyglutaric acid accumulates and produces a progressive leukoencephalopathy with neurological signs. It has been described in the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Yorkshire Te…
Frequently asked questions
What does this pack include?
It includes 5 hereditary disease tests: Chondrodysplasia (CDPA) and Chondrodystrophy (CDDY) (IVDD Risk), Subacute Necrotizing Encephalopathy (SNE), Primary Lens Luxation (PLL), Canine Progressive Retinal Atrophy (prcd-PRA)…. All are analysed in our laboratory.
What do the results mean?
The report shows the genotype and inheritance pattern of each variant. It is a breeding-decision tool: it guides which crosses to avoid, it does not guarantee the absence of disease.
How is the sample taken?
Buccal swab or 0.5–1 ml EDTA blood. The kit ships free to Spain, the EU and the UK.
