SKU: fwui Category:

Diseases included in this pack

Color de pelo canela (gato, todas las razas) (Autosomal recessive with respect to B (series B > b > b^l). b^l/b^l gives cinnamon; b/b or b/b^l gives chocolate; B/- gives full colour.)

Recessive coat colour produced by a nonsense mutation in the TYRP1 gene that gives a cinnamon (or light brown) coat. It corresponds to the b^l allele of the Brown locus. It is not a disease. The test is complementary to, and not a substitute for, the clinical examination.

Agouti coat color variant (cat, all breeds) (Autosomal recessive for the non-agouti allele (a): the agouti pattern is dominant over solid colour, and solid colour requires the a/a genotype. The final expression depends on the other colour loci (extension/MC1R, dilution, etc.).)

Feline agouti colour (tabby pattern, with hair bands and a pale belly) depends on the Agouti locus (ASIP). The recessive non-agouti allele (a) prevents the production of functional ASIP protein and results in a solid-coloured coat (black, blue, chocolate or cinnamon depending on the other loci), whereas the agouti a…

Chocolate/cinnamon brown coat color variant (cat, all breeds) (Autosomal recessive (allelic series B > b > b^l): chocolate in bb or bb^l; cinnamon in b^lb^l)

The chocolate (brown) colour of the cat is a pigmentation trait produced by variants of the TYRP1 gene. Cats with two copies of the b allele show a chocolate (chestnut) coat, whereas the b^l allele produces the light brown or cinnamon colour. It is a visible trait and not a disease, and it is inherited in an autosom…

Colourpoint coat color variant (Siamese, mink, Burmese brown) Cat, all breeds except Bengal (Autosomal recessive with respect to C; allelic series C > cb > cs > c, with cb incompletely dominant over cs (cb/cs produces the intermediate mink phenotype).)

Coat trait caused by mutations in the TYR gene (C locus) that produce temperature-sensitive pigmentation, with pigment restricted to the extremities. The genotypes are cs/cs (Siamese or pointed pattern, with blue eyes), cb/cb (Burmese or sepia pattern) and cb/cs (intermediate or mink). It is not a disease. Complemen…

Color de pelo felino Capas sólidas + diluidas (Colorpoint, Agouti, Amber, Chocolate, Dilución...) (Independent Mendelian traits: ASIP non-agouti (a) recessive; TYRP1 chocolate (b) and cinnamon (b^l) recessive; TYR colorpoint (c^s) and Burmese (c^b) recessive; MLPH dilute (d) recessive.)

Genetic panel for feline coat colour and pattern (it is not a disease) that analyses four classic loci: ASIP (agouti/non-agouti), TYRP1 (brown: chocolate and cinnamon), TYR (colorpoint pattern: Siamese and Burmese) and MLPH (dilution). The result predicts the colour/pattern the animal can transmit and helps plan mat…

Coat dilution (cat, all breeds) (Autosomal recessive. Only d/d homozygotes show coat dilution; heterozygotes have normal colour.)

Coat dilution in the domestic cat is a recessive trait caused by a one-base deletion in the MLPH gene (melanophilin). Cats homozygous for the dilution allele show lightened colours (blue, bluish grey, lilac, cream, etc.) depending on the base colour. Unlike the dog, in the cat MLPH dilution has not been associated w…

Frequently asked questions

What does this pack include?

It includes 6 hereditary disease tests: Color de pelo canela (gato, todas las razas), Agouti coat color variant (cat, all breeds), Chocolate/cinnamon brown coat color variant (cat, all breeds), Colourpoint coat color variant (Siamese, mink, Burmese brown) Cat, all breeds except Bengal…. All are analysed in our laboratory.

What do the results mean?

The report shows the genotype and inheritance pattern of each variant. It is a breeding-decision tool: it guides which crosses to avoid, it does not guarantee the absence of disease.

How is the sample taken?

Buccal swab or 0.5–1 ml EDTA blood. The kit ships free to Spain, the EU and the UK.
