En el estudio cient铆fico ‘Plasma chemistry references values in psittaciforms’ de los autores J.T. LUMEIJ and L.M. OVERDUIN se establecen los valores de referencia de 17 variables qu铆micas plasm谩ticas de varias aves de la familia Psittacidae. Entre ellas, los grises africanos (Psittacus erithacus), amazonas (Amazona amazonica), cacat煤as (Cacatuidae) y guacamayos (Ara) para su uso en la pr谩ctica cl铆nica aviar.

Calcium oxalate (CaOx) is a common urolith that is difficult to prevent because the factors responsible for its formation are incompletely understood. Crystal formation and growth are, at least in part, a reflection of urine supersaturation. Therefore, controlling risk factors and avoiding CaOx supersaturation in urine (e.g., hypercalciuria, hyperoxaluria, hyperaciduria, hypocitraturia, and highly concentrated urine) should minimize urolith recurrence.
